Asemic Calligraphy

An ongoing exploration of form in digital calligraphy, divorced from semantic content.

The separation of meaning and form allows for freer exploration of the relationship between the stylus (physical tool) and the possibilities of software applications (virtual transformations).

An open ended series of digital calligraphy compositions removed from semantic content. The removal of meaningful words and familiar characters allows for a free exploration of the digital stylus/virtual brush as a writing tool.

 
 

By isolating form from literal semantics, it’s easier to understand the communicative power and connotations the form itself carries.
